Following a different Path

Entering the Toronto market can be difficult.  Very difficult and tiresome. Especially for first time homebuyers trying to get into a sought after west end neighbourhood like High Park, Bloor West Village or The Junction.  My wife and I discovered this market 2 years ago in 2010 and after numerous bidding wars and continuous disappointments, we felt defeated and gave up, deciding to save a better down payment in hopes that the next time would be more fruitful.

Fast forward to this year, April 2012, with a better down payment in hand, but still a hot Toronto market to deal with, Don and Debbie Martin were our realtors and this time the experience was very different.  Before re-entering the market we ensured our finances were in order, pre-approval was complete and a clear direction was set in terms of what type of house we wanted.  And of course we set a budget.  Don and Debbie took care of the rest.  With over 25 years of real estate experience and bringing a new strategy to the Toronto market, our realtors not only provided knowledge and insight, but also led the way through an experience that turned out positive for everyone. 

The Martins insisted that we follow “a different path”, staying away from bidding wars and unrealistic listing prices.  Their patience and keen sincere ability to deal with the Toronto market provided priceless insight that was used to guide us to the perfect home and feasible real estate transaction – with a savings of $25,000 from listing price.  We saw 10 houses in 2 weeks all in the Bloor West and Junction area, the areas we insisted we wanted to buy in and found the home of our dreams with all we were wanting -renovated, spacious and in the exact desired location.  For anyone who has tried to buy a home, you know it’s an emotional rollercoaster, especially when you think you have found your dream home.  It’s hard to keep your cool and to think with your head and not your heart.

Don and Debbie maintained that we could win our dream home and feel financially and personally comfortable by having patience and trusting that the Toronto home buying trend does not need to be followed. We entered an offer that everyone was pleased with, and even went in with conditions, something that is often unheard of in a high demand Toronto area.  After a few days of careful negotiations and very insightful conversations, the Martins sealed the deal for us, helping to put us in the home of our dreams.  A newly wed, first time homebuyer couple in the area of their dreams, the home of their future and at the budget that could be handled.  Mission accomplished!

We want to thank Don and Debbie for making our second experience in the Toronto market such a positive one with a fantastic result.
